What Words Does The Bible Use For “Party”?

I wanted to look up “how to plan a party” in the Bible.  I felt that the word, used in the sense of “havin fun”, will not be found in the Bible, so I try to find a synonym.  Just to be sure, I checked “party” in Strong’s concordance, and got, as I expected, no result.

2 Different Ways Of Checkin God’s Advice In The Bible

I want to find out what Bible says about ideas for parties straightly, but also I want to use the “Infinity Bible Code” to find out how God recommends for us how to plan a party.

First I Checked The Root Meanin Of “Party”

I began by lookin up the word “party” in the Online Etymological Dictionary, and here is what I found:

“Party” means a group of folks, set apart for a want.  In our case, the “want” is to have fun.

Then I Found Synonyms In An Online Thesaurus

I found synonyms used in the Bible, for “partyin”.  Here is are the words that I entered into Strong’s concordance:

  • celebrate
  • feast
  • feasting
  • merry
  • rejoice

Then I Looked In Strong’s Concordance

I did not search the word “drink” or “drinking”.  I want to save that for another day.

The word “rejoice” had so many results, that I recorded only one column of them.

For the above list of words, here are the synonyms that I got:

  • chagag:  hold a feast
  • euphraino:  gladden, make joyful (”good heart”)
  • euthymeo:  gladden (”good kindness”)
  • giyl:  rejoice, be glad
  • halal:  shine
  • hilluwl:  rejoice, praise (from “halal”)
  • mishteh:  feast, drink, banquet
  • ranan:  overcome
  • sachaq:  laugh, play
  • samach:  joyful, merry, glad
  • shameach:  joyful, merry, glad
  • shathah:  drink
  • simchah:  mirth, joy, gladness
  • suws:  rejoice
  • towb:  good, pleasant, agreeable, joy
  • yatab:  good, pleasin, glad, joyful

So, you see, the Bible has a lot to say about party entertaining, bein merry, and havin fun!

Look For God’s Advice In More Posts In This Blog

I am goin to have to take each of these synonyms and make a separate post for each idea that I find.  This is goin to take, probably, months.

Therefore, I suggest that you rss this blog, or else bookmark the blog, and click “Bible” in the “Categories” section in the lower left column.

Here is some more for you about what the Infinity Bible Code says about parties:

The Bible uses at least 16 words to mean “celebration” or “feast”.  I have been takin them, through the infinity Bible Code, one at a time.  The Hebrew word, “halal” takes us to Romans headin 15.

The headin opens with advice to please the other person, not yourself.  Therefore, a party will work well, if each person there is out to please the others.

As a host or hostess, I wonder how you could encourage this.  Some folks are naturally bent toward pleasin others, and they don’t need much of a word, in order to get at it.

If you wanted to make a kind of game of it, you could assign each guest another guest, that they have to please.  If the guest wants to get any refreshment, they can’t have any unless the one, whom they are to please, says that they have been pleased.

Now, just for the sake of contrast, compare the party that the Bible described, to the ones described in this video:
