What Words Does The Bible Use For “Party”?

I wanted to look up “how to plan a party” in the Bible.  I felt that the word, used in the sense of “havin fun”, will not be found in the Bible, so I try to find a synonym.  Just to be sure, I checked “party” in Strong’s concordance, and got, as I expected, no result.

2 Different Ways Of Checkin God’s Advice In The Bible

I want to find out what Bible says about ideas for parties straightly, but also I want to use the “Infinity Bible Code” to find out how God recommends for us how to plan a party.

First I Checked The Root Meanin Of “Party”

I began by lookin up the word “party” in the Online Etymological Dictionary, and here is what I found:

“Party” means a group of folks, set apart for a want.  In our case, the “want” is to have fun.

Then I Found Synonyms In An Online Thesaurus

I found synonyms used in the Bible, for “partyin”.  Here is are the words that I entered into Strong’s concordance:

  • celebrate
  • feast
  • feasting
  • merry
  • rejoice

Then I Looked In Strong’s Concordance

I did not search the word “drink” or “drinking”.  I want to save that for another day.

The word “rejoice” had so many results, that I recorded only one column of them.

For the above list of words, here are the synonyms that I got:

  • chagag:  hold a feast
  • euphraino:  gladden, make joyful (”good heart”)
  • euthymeo:  gladden (”good kindness”)
  • giyl:  rejoice, be glad
  • halal:  shine
  • hilluwl:  rejoice, praise (from “halal”)
  • mishteh:  feast, drink, banquet
  • ranan:  overcome
  • sachaq:  laugh, play
  • samach:  joyful, merry, glad
  • shameach:  joyful, merry, glad
  • shathah:  drink
  • simchah:  mirth, joy, gladness
  • suws:  rejoice
  • towb:  good, pleasant, agreeable, joy
  • yatab:  good, pleasin, glad, joyful

So, you see, the Bible has a lot to say about party entertaining, bein merry, and havin fun!

Look For God’s Advice In More Posts In This Blog

I am goin to have to take each of these synonyms and make a separate post for each idea that I find.  This is goin to take, probably, months.

Therefore, I suggest that you rss this blog, or else bookmark the blog, and click “Bible” in the “Categories” section in the lower left column.

But not you!  You are here, thinkin on it!

Here is the core idea:  the best party, the absolutely best party, is one, wherein the guests are all singin the praises of their maker, with hand drums, tambourines, lap harps, and other musical instruments.

Here is some more for you about what the Infinity Bible Code says about parties:

The Bible uses at least 16 words to mean “celebration” or “feast”.  I have been takin them, through the infinity Bible Code, one at a time.  The Hebrew word, “halal” takes us to Romans headin 15.

The headin opens with advice to please the other person, not yourself.  Therefore, a party will work well, if each person there is out to please the others.

As a host or hostess, I wonder how you could encourage this.  Some folks are naturally bent toward pleasin others, and they don’t need much of a word, in order to get at it.

If you wanted to make a kind of game of it, you could assign each guest another guest, that they have to please.  If the guest wants to get any refreshment, they can’t have any unless the one, whom they are to please, says that they have been pleased.

Now, just for the sake of contrast, compare the party that the Bible described, to the ones described in this video:

Articles About Carvin Watermelons

13th January

I just discovered some articles about carvin watermelons for a parties.  You actually have to see the picture, if you want to realize how beautiful is this way.  Here is the link to the picture:  ideas for parties

If you are thinkin on how to plan a party, and you want food, and it is not a dinner party…

…AND you have an art or craft person available to do the cuttin, this may be a great idea for you.

It’s the type of thin that you would do, if you are an artist, or if you want to learn to be an artist.  Next in line would be a craft person, who would also do this.

If you are not an artist and you are not a craft person, and you don’t want to be, then ask a friend or family member to do it for your party.  But only if they are an artist or craft person.

Really, it is a beautiful piece of work, for your party entertaining.

Here is a list of the tools you would need.  Some of them you may not need, you have to see the specific article first (you will find links at the end of this post), but this is just to help to get your thinkin started:

  • Watermelon
  • Melon baller
  • Knife
  • Crinkle cutter if desired for shapes
  • Round cookie cutter
  • Letter stencil and pen or pencil

I want to make a note on the health aspects of eatin fruit.  Fruit is one of the best thins for you to eat, but only if you eat it by itself.  Mixin fruit with non-fruit is actually bad for your health.  It depends on which fruit you are talkin about.

For health purpose, melons are in a class of their own, and should be eaten only with other melons.  So if you care about the health of your guests, and you are responsible, then it would be best to serve fruit drinks with the melons.

You can say, well, the guests are responsible for their own diets.  Sure.  But maybe they have never read about it, and now you have.  But it is a party, not a nutrition class.  If they are goin to learn about the health aspects of mixin foods together, it shouldn’t be at your party.

Small After-Dinner Party Entertaining

10th January

Idea For A Small Quiet Party

Different types of parties require different types of plannin. What if you want to have simple conversation amon 10 or fewer folks, your own family plus a few guests? What if you don’t want to serve dinner? Here I tell you a suggestion on planning a party, of just that type.

These ideas for parties could work for an after-dinner party, or for an afternoon party, either one.

Maybe there is not that much to talk about, because you have not known each other lon. Maybe you have known each other so lon, that you have already talked about everythin under the Sun, and there is nothin left for you to talk about.

I speak jokinly, for some folks will always find somethin to talk about, and some will always find it hard, to think of somethin to say. But here is a simple, commonly used party format, that encourages conversation.

For small numbers of serene guests, board games can be a platform to catalyze social interaction. It is not necessarily the dinner party games themselves that are fun. It is the interaction amon the folks playin the game that decides whether fun will be had.

I read an article recently, of a board game that has just recently become available in the United States of America. It is a rather different kind of a game, for it is not about money, not about adventure, not about trivia, but it is about farmin!

To me, farmin is the ideal sport, and would make a truly good basis for a decent conversation, if you have the right people involved. The game is called “Sodbusters”, and is the work of Randal Heide. Here is the link about the game itself www.sodbusters-game.com .

Interestin Tips On Servin Wine

27th December

Are you lookin for dinner party ideas? I found an article that tells you the most fundamental tips about servin wine. Bein an alcoholic, I can’t drink any more, but when I did drink I used to like wine the best. However, until now I never bothered with the subtleties of how to maximize the pleasure.

If you are thinkin on entertaining, and you plan to serve wine in the gourmet tradition, this article tells the fundamentals that you want to follow.

The writer of the article is named Gourmet Gary. He makes a distinction between folks who care about the subtleties of wine-drinkin, and those who do not. Therefore, I beg of you, please do not feel that there is some pressure for you to learn about these subtleties. For me, if I could drink wine, I wouldn’t care. Possibly I would try out the tips, that Gourmet Gary wrote about in the article, just to see if I was able to tell the difference.

But if you are thinkin about ideas for parties, and you want to explore the finest and subtlest of flavors to be found in wine, and if you have not been educated about the subject before now, then I recommend the article to you.

One point, that I found to be particularly interestin, is the importance of timin when to open the bottle. Gourmet Gary said that, for red wines, you get the best flavor if you uncork the bottle a full hour before you drink the wine. Now, I found that to be extremely interestin, I had never heard of such a thin before!

If you want to read the whole article, then here is the link for you. It is from a publication called the Blah:

Reckonin How Much Snack Food To Serve

27th December

I found an awesome article, tellin of a hot new insider thought, that will help you to think, about planning a party. Suppose your party is not a dinner party; suppose that to offer food is right for your party. The article suggests an interestin way to reckon how much food for you to supply to your guests.

How Long Will Your Party Last?

Here it is: in the first 2 hours, each guest will eat 5 hors d’oeuvres each hour. Every hour after that, each guest will eat 3 hors d’oeuvre each hour.

So, you see, from that, that when you are thinkin on ideas for parties, you have to have a definite idea of how much time your party will last.

How Many Bites Per Hour?

Suppose that you will be servin trays of fruit and vegetables. Each guest will eat 2 bites of each item, every hour.

How Many Napkins?

How to plan a party napkin consumption, give them 4 small cocktail-sized napkins for every hour for every guest.  When you reckon, in this way, your party entertaining budget will match with the number of guests at your party.

Where Is The Whole Article?

The article, that I read, is called, ” How to Plan a Party That’s Enjoyed by All”, by Janice Faulk Duplantis, and you can find it at http://EzineArticles.com/?How-to-Plan-a-Party-Thats-Enjoyed-by-All&id=107917
